Last Saturday the Mustangs traveled to Kilgore to compete against 7 other middle schools across East Texas. It was an amazing event with several of our Mustangs taking home 1st place medals in the consulation bracket.
In 7th grade matches our Lady Mustangs fought hard and advanced deep into the tournament. On the boys side there were two Mustangs competing against eachother for first place. Sam and Patrick battled it out to the cheers of onlookers and in the end Sam was crowned the winner. Also, in 7th grade mixed doubles we had two Mustang teams competing for first. Victoria and Lamont faced off against Jade and Keenan. After an intense match, it was Jade and Keenan who surfaced as the winners.
In 8th grade matches our Lady Mustangs proved their skill. After several well played matches, Nicole was crowned the winner and Maggie took third. The boys fought hard and played well, but unfortunately were not able to capture the medal.
What do you get when you put one Mustang and one Indian on a tennis court? That’s right, singles play. Mono y mono. It’s been a long wait for the Mustangs to face off against an opponent and we were chomping at the bit. Locked gates couldn’t stop us, winding country roads couldn’t lose us, and finally the time had come to dance. The popping of fresh cans of tennis balls filled the air. The Mustangs looked across the net with determination in their stare.
Thank you to all the players and parents involved in last Saturday’s events. Mustangs you played and conducted yourselves like champions. For those of us who didn’t bring home a medal this time remember, you’re just getting started and the best is yet to come

This afternoon we will see mostly sunny skies across East Texas and very pleasant temperatures. Highs will reach the 80 degree mark in past areas and the winds will be much lighter than yesterday, out of the east around 8 mph. After a quiet evening tonight anther fantastic day is in store for us tomorrow with highs in the lower 80s
A storm system will drag a cold front through the area late Thursday. Along and ahead of this front strong storms could develop. The best chance of seeing severe weather at this time appears to be north of I-20 where a slight risk of severe weather is in effect for Thursday. South of I-20 only isolated storms will develop. Even here there is enough energy for a storm to become strong and produce hail so we will be monitoring this situation closely.
Behind this front the weekend looks fantastic. Highs will be in the middle and upper 70s with lows in the upper 40s to lower 50s.

We will be talking about the different ways that mobile devices like cell phones and laptops can be good things. You won’t want to miss it! Again, Tuesday from 6-8 pm in the Moore cafeteria. See Mr. Garner or Coach Powell for more details.”

Hey Mean Green Soccer Team!
Don’t forget we have a game today.
This morning I am going to assist Mr. Lane by reading the Science challenge Quiz. So students get ready to Wake up Your Brains because we will be giving away one of the ink pen prizes today. Yesterday, Mr. Lane asked you the following question…..
What am I? I use light energy to convert water and carbon dioxide into oxygen and high-energy carbohydrates such as sugars and starches this process is called photosynthesis. What am I? Answer? A Plant
Winners were B1 Mrs. Jordan 6th , B1 Rock Star Science Teacher Mr. Rasure 7th, and the unstoppable Mrs. Singer B1 for 8th Grade.
Here is your question for today:
This is a question about rocks. In 1980 the eruption of Mount St. Helens, a stratovolcano located in Washington state, in the United States, was a major volcanic eruption. The eruption (which was a VEI 5 event) was the only significant one to occur in the contiguous 48 U.S. states since the 1915 eruption of Lassen Peak in California.[1] The eruption was preceded by a two-month series of earthquakes and steam-venting episodes, caused by an injection of magma at shallow depth below the volcano that created a huge bulge and a fracture system on Mount St. Helens‘ north slope. Here is your question: After Mt. St. Helens lava cooled down, what type of rock did this volcano form?
Here are the 3 B’s: Be Responsible, Be Respectful, and Be Safe.
Let today be a great day for you!
